Rihanna, Akon and Gym Class Heroes remain top in Ireland

Rihanna and Jay-Z have remained at the top of the Irish singles chart with Umbrella this week.

Akon and Gym Class Heroes stuck at second and third position respectively, while Hellogoodbye's Here In Your Arms rose three places to number four. Timbaland's Give It To Me remained at number five.

Bruce Springsteen & The Sessions Band have debuted at the top of the album chart with Live In Dublin, followed by Damien Dempsey's To Hell Or Barbados at number two and Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad at number three.

Gym Class Heroes official apologizes for band's profanity

Tim Fennell, Del Mar Fairgrounds general manager, has issued an apology for "inappropriate language and behavior" used by Gym Class Heroes, the headline performers during Friday's opening day concert.

"We apologize to anyone who was offended by the band's language or actions," Fennell said in a statement Saturday. "It is our goal to provide a safe, fun, family environment, and this band's actions created an atmosphere we do not want."

Fennell could not be reached for comment Monday. No details were available on exactly what the band said or did that prompted the apology.

The notice states that the fairgrounds would enforce a penalty clause in the band's contract that prohibits profanity and inappropriate behavior.

EMI says DRM-free music is selling well

EMI's senior VP Lauren Berkowitz reports that sales of the label's digital music sales have seen a spike in sales after going DRM-free through iTunes a few weeks ago. If EMI can maintain that increase in sales, the other major labels may follow sooner than later.

Gym Class Heroes played June 8 at the Grandstand Stage as part of the San Diego County Fair

Too $hort, incidentally, performs here tomorrow at the Live Nation-owned House of Blues. The rock-rap band Gym Class Heroes, which is also booked for Street Scene, played June 8 at the Grandstand Stage as part of the San Diego County Fair. Elvis Perkins, another Street Scene act, is due here July 2 at 4th&B (which is booked, but not owned, by Live Nation).

True, Street Scene will offer a chance to hear hometown favorites Louis XIV and such up-and-coming young artists as Paolo Nutini, Fair to Midland and Shut Up Stella. But bringing back acts that have played here so recently, such as Too $hort and Gym Class Heroes, is a curious move for a festival hoping to re-establish itself after a dramatic, 30,000-plus decline in attendance over the past two years.

A girl on Youtube has an impressive voice
